wildflowers, native shrubs, and woody vines found east of the Mississippi River,
from the Canadian Provinces southward as far as northern Florida and the Gulf
Coast Region. The arrangement of the plants in this book is by plant
families and genera. Information about the size of the plant, the size and
color of its flowers, its habitat, general range, and other items of interest
are included in the text, with the illustrations of each plant on the facing
page. There is a key to all of the families and some of the larger
and more difficult genera of wildflowers listed in this book, as well as two
keys to the genera of shrubs, the first including leaves and fruit, the other
listing leaf-losing shrubs in winter conditions. In addition, keys to most
of the larger genera of shrubs are provided in the Appendix. Also includes a
