Tree Teams Specimen Sorting
Part of the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory
in the Smokies

Feb. 9 and May 10, 4:00 - 7:00 pm

Free; pre-registration required

The public is invited to participate in this fascinating science project.  This long-term study involves documenting invertebrate life in high elevation forests of the American Beech tree in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Collections were made last season, and now we are helping sort the specimens.  No experience or knowledge is necessary and all equipment is provided.  This is an informal session where we closely examine the material and sort it into categories, plus get to learn about the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory in the Smokies.  We all look at the specimens found in the samples and help decide the categories.  It's fun, and free, and open to anyone who is interested!  Registration is required and space is limited due to limitations on microscopes and sorting equipment.  Give is a call at 828-274-5430, or email us at info@compleatnaturalist.com.  To learn more about the ATBI and DLIA, visit www.dlia.org.
